Study Links mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines to Rare and Fatal Brain Disease
Another study links pathogenic prions caused by COVID-19 vaccines to a horrific disease known as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
The prion region of the original Wuhan SARS-CoV-2 variant’s spike protein was integrated into mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and may explain the rapid-onset of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD)—a rare and fatal degenerative brain disorder occurring after vaccination.
A January preprint study by retired French biomathematician Jean-Claude Perez examined the emergence of problematic proteins resulting from ribosomal frame-shifting within the mRNA structure of COVID-19 vaccines. The study found unknown proteins and a prion region that could potentially increase the risk of developing prion diseases after vaccination.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), prion diseases are a group of rare progressive neurodegenerative disorders that affect humans and animals.
A prion is a type of protein on the surface of some cells that can cause normal proteins in the brain to fold abnormally and clump, ultimately resulting in brain damage and death.
Once a single prion becomes infected, it progresses to other prions and causes rapid brain degeneration that leads to dementia and death. Sporadic CJD occurs when a person becomes infected for no apparent reason. There is no treatment for CJD, and it is always fatal.
In a previously published French study on CJD led by Perez, researchers analyzed 26 cases of sporadic CJD and found the first symptoms appeared on average 11.38 days after vaccination with Pfizer or Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. All 26 cases resulted in death.
“The 20 deaths occurred only 4.76 months after the injection. Among them, 8 of them lead to a sudden death (2.5 months),” researchers wrote. “This confirms the radically different nature of this new form of CJD, whereas the classic form requires several decades.”
Cheryl Cohen, a healthy 64-year-old woman from Florida, died three months after her second dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine when she suddenly developed CJD after she was vaccinated.
Cohen’s daughter filed a report with the CDC’s VAERS System (VAERS ID 1535217), sent medical records to the CDC, and gave her mother’s brain to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center. She also notified the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation—which has not acknowledged the connection between COVID-19 vaccination and the disease.
Jennifer Deason Sprague, a healthy 60-year-old woman from Missouri, died five months after receiving her second dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. Sprague was forced to get vaccinated to keep her job. Sprague’s husband said his wife’s symptoms started within four days of her second dose.
“She was fogged, having a hard time, was seeing snakes on the wall—like she had dementia—and it would only last about three days until that part of the brain was gone.”
Carol Beauchine died from CJD after receiving her second dose of Moderna. Beauchine’s son said it was excruciating to watch his 70-year-old healthy mother die from a disease he believes the vaccine caused.
According to the latest data from the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), 89 cases of CJD have been reported following COVID-19 vaccination since Dec. 14, 2021. Since VAERS has been shown to report only 1% of actual vaccine adverse events, the number of people who have experienced this severe brain disorder following vaccination is likely underestimated.
COVID Vaccines May Trigger or Accelerate Prion Diseases
A February 2021 paper in Microbiology & Infectious Diseases summarized the potential for mRNA COVID-19 vaccines to trigger the development of prion diseases and related diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple system atrophy.
Classen published a second paper in July 2021 on vaccines associated with Parkinson’s Disease using the UK Yellow Card adverse events database and data on the AstraZeneca and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.
It often takes years for abnormal folding of specific proteins to produce prion disease. Still, Classen said COVID vaccines could be accelerating disease progression in individuals who either already have subclinical prion disease or have mild prion disease that has not been properly diagnosed.
Evidence indicates that the vaccine spike protein can prompt misfolding of essential RNA/DNA binding proteins, called TDP-43 and FUS, and catalyze a toxic “chain reaction.”
Because the spike protein can cause proteins to clump abnormally so quickly, this “could allow fairly rapid detection of prion disease after immunization,” Classen said.
At the same time, neurodegenerative diseases can sometimes take years or even decades to develop, so adverse event reporting systems like VAERS may not capture these diseases. Additionally, prion disease symptoms are often non-specific or overlap with other conditions, making diagnosis difficult and underreporting probable.
Prion Region of Spike Protein in COVID Vaccines Can Interact with Human Cells
Although the Omicron variant did not have a prion region on its spike protein, French researchers said other COVID-19 variants do.
“We have also demonstrated […] that the Spikes of the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA injections also contain this same Prion region,” the researchers wrote. “The same is true of ALL the other SARS-CoV2 vaccines since ALL are made from the Spike sequence of SARS-CoV2 from Wuhan, which we have demonstrated contains the Prion region.”
A January 2022 study published in Microorganisms showed the prion area of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein integrated into COVID-19 vaccines can interact with human cells.
With mRNA vaccines, once mRNA is incorporated into the cells, the cell turns mRNA instructions into a COVID-19 spike protein that tricks the cells into believing it has been infected, so the body will create an immunological memory against a piece of the virus.
Although the CDC says COVID-19 vaccines cannot “alter your DNA,” studies show mRNA can be changed into DNA and incorporated into the human genome.
A study published in the International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice, and Research found that misfolded spike protein could create a misfolded prion region that may be able to interact with healthy prions to cause damage, leading to CJD disease.
A peer-reviewed Turkish case report and the French study identified sudden CJD cases following vaccination with the Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines, suggesting links between vaccination and prion disease in humans.

My friends aunt died from CJD 1 year ago. They refused to discuss possible link to her having been covid vaccinated. Her case is not in VAERS.
